PSSI Partners with Dutch KNVB to Enhance Indonesian Football

The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) is set to collaborate with the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) to elevate the quality of Indonesia’s national football teams. PSSI Chairperson Erick Thohir announced that representatives from the KNVB will visit next week to sign a cooperation agreement at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

This partnership aims to improve both men’s and women’s national teams across all age groups, fostering better training and competitive experiences. One of the initial outcomes will be a friendly match between Indonesia’s women’s team and the Dutch team on October 25. Plans for a men’s match are also in the works, with scheduling details to be confirmed.

Additionally, the KNVB will help develop Indonesian football coaches through mentorship programs. Currently, Indonesia has around 12,000 football coaches, a number that lags behind countries like Japan, which boasts approximately 76,000 coaches. This initiative aims to raise coaching standards nationwide.

Communication between PSSI and KNVB has been ongoing since 2022, focusing on areas like talent scouting and youth development, highlighted by the Oranje Indonesia Festival organized by KNVB in Jakarta last November.
