The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is intensifying its crackdown on service providers involved in online gambling transactions. According to Teguh Arifiyadi, violations will first receive a warning, but unregistered platforms suspected of facilitating gambling will face immediate disconnection. With online gambling transactions nearing Rp400 trillion and players increasing to three million, the ministry is deploying AI web crawlers, manual patrols, and community complaint follow-ups to address the issue. Over the past seven years, they’ve blocked 3.8 million gambling applications, with two million blocked last year. Education remains a key strategy to combat online gambling effectively.
