Polresta Tanjungpinang tetapkan oknum polisi dan istri tersangka TPPO

Polresta Tanjungpinang, part of Polda Kepulauan Riau (Kepri), has designated a police officer, identified as A, and his wife as suspects in a human trafficking case (Tindak Pidana Perdagangan Orang, TPPO). The couple was detained on December 18, 2023, after reports of their involvement in trafficking activities.

According to AKP Agung Tri Poerbowo, the Head of Criminal Investigation at Polresta Tanjungpinang, the couple acted as intermediaries for an illegal Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) who was supposed to be sent to Malaysia. The couple allegedly received money from the PMI candidate to cover expenses related to document processing and the journey abroad. However, the migrant worker was never sent as promised, prompting the victim to report the situation to the police.

The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are exploring the possibility of a larger trafficking network involving other suspects. At the moment, only the couple has been formally charged, but further developments are expected.

Investigations into the human trafficking network are still ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out the involvement of other individuals. Currently, the two suspects are in custody while further legal proceedings are underway.
