Jokowi Praises Indonesia’s Values of Harmony and Tolerance

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed his appreciation for the enduring values of harmony and tolerance in Indonesia during the Indonesian Association of Religious Harmony Forum (AFKUBI) held at the State Palace in the new capital, Nusantara, East Kalimantan.

Speaking at the event, Jokowi reflected on the prevalence of conflict in the modern world, citing ongoing wars such as those in Ukraine and the Israel-Palestine region. He highlighted how these conflicts underscore the vital need for unity and tolerance within nations.

“In this era, where war still exists, we should be grateful that the values of harmony and tolerance are well-preserved in Indonesia,” he stated. He emphasized that amidst global unrest, these values are invaluable assets for the country.

The President commended AFKUBI for its role in promoting religious harmony and tolerance among Indonesia’s diverse communities. “AFKUBI is a valuable heritage of our nation that we must cultivate,” he said, advocating for dialogue and the instillation of tolerance from an early age.

Jokowi concluded by urging all Indonesians to continue fostering a peaceful and harmonious environment, thanking AFKUBI for its contributions to maintaining the nation’s conducive atmosphere.
