Imigrasi: US Marshals jemput buronan di RI paling lambat 30 Januari

The news article discusses the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration’s (Ditjen Imigrasi) announcement that the U.S. Marshals will pick up an American fugitive, known as TJC, by January 30, 2025. TJC is wanted by U.S. authorities for serious charges including sexual exploitation, attempted exploitation of minors, and possession of child pornography.

Indonesian immigration authorities acted based on a request from the U.S. Marshals. Although TJC was apprehended in Indonesia, the Indonesian authorities confirmed that they did not find any crimes committed by him in the country. TJC entered Indonesia on December 4, 2024, and by December 18, the U.S. Embassy had informed Indonesian authorities that his passport had been revoked, making his stay in the country illegal. Subsequently, TJC was arrested on December 30, 2024, while attempting to extend his stay at the Tangerang Immigration Office.

The Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration (Ditjen Imigrasi) has revealed that the US Marshals will pick up a US citizen, referred to as TJC, by January 30, 2025. TJC is wanted for serious crimes, including sexual exploitation, attempted exploitation of minors, and possession of child pornography.

Yuldi Yusman, the Director of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement at Ditjen Imigrasi, confirmed that TJC’s arrest was carried out based on a request from the US Marshals. Yuldi also stated that when the US Marshals arrive in Indonesia, they will further investigate whether TJC is involved in any criminal syndicate. However, Indonesian authorities are unable to conduct deeper investigations since TJC’s crimes did not occur in Indonesia.

TJC faces several serious charges, including sexual exploitation and attempted sexual exploitation of minors, which violate sections of the United States Code (USC), specifically Chapters 2251(a) and 2251(e). These offenses involve producing child exploitation materials. Additionally, TJC is charged with possessing child pornography, violating sections 18 USC, Chapter 2252A (a)(5)(B) and 2252A (b)(2), related to the possession or storage of explicit images of minors with the intent to distribute or for personal consumption.

TJC, the American fugitive, is under legal proceedings within the jurisdiction of the Southern District Court of Iowa, USA. However, Indonesian authorities have not found any evidence suggesting that he committed any crimes within Indonesia.

TJC entered Indonesia on December 4, 2024. On December 18, 2024, the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration (Ditjen Imigrasi) received information from the U.S. Embassy that TJC’s passport had been revoked, making his stay in Indonesia illegal. This was confirmed through a letter from the U.S. Embassy (No. JAK.OCI.24.075), which provided the basis for Ditjen Imigrasi to issue a prevention and pre-investigation order.

TJC was arrested on December 30, 2024, at the Tangerang Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office when he applied for an extension of his visit permit. The arrest followed a thorough investigation by Ditjen Imigrasi’s investigation team and intensive coordination with the U.S. Embassy. In total, TJC had stayed in Indonesia for approximately 26 days before his capture.
