Pelita Jaya Jakarta is determined to achieve a back-to-back championship in the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL). This ambitious goal was emphasized by the club’s commissioner, Aninditha Bakrie, during the team’s introduction event for the 2025 season in Jakarta.
“We are clear in our target this year—to win back-to-back titles. It will definitely not be easy because other teams are also competing fiercely,” said Aninditha.
Additionally, Aninditha pointed out the added challenge for the team as they are also participating in the Basketball Champions League (BCL) Asia in 2025. This participation means the team will face a tight schedule, traveling to various countries and playing in both the IBL and BCL Asia. “This year, we are also joining the BCL Asia, so our schedule will be very tight. We will be flying to different countries, as if we’re playing in two leagues,” she explained.
Pelita Jaya will aim to continue their success and defend their title in IBL while balancing the challenges of international competition. Their resolve is strong as they set their sights on maintaining dominance both domestically and in the Asian basketball scene.
Pelita Jaya Jakarta is determined to secure a back-to-back title in the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) for the second consecutive year. This goal was firmly expressed by Pelita Jaya’s Commissioner, Aninditha Bakrie, during the team’s squad introduction event for the upcoming 2025 season in Jakarta.
“The target this year is clear—we want to win the back-to-back title. It will definitely not be easy, as other teams are also competing fiercely,” Aninditha said.
Aninditha also highlighted that Pelita Jaya will face even more challenges this season, as the club is rejoining the Basketball Champions League (BCL) Asia. This means that the team will have a very tight schedule, with games in multiple countries. “This year, we are also participating in the BCL Asia, which makes the schedule very demanding. We will be flying to different countries, so it’s as if we are playing in two leagues,” she explained.
In preparation for the new season, Aninditha Bakrie explained that, aside from retaining their championship-winning squad, Pelita Jaya’s management is also committed to erasing the “nomadic team” label. This effort is part of their plan to renovate their home court, Gelanggang Mahasiswa Sumantri Brodjonegoro (GMSB) in Kuningan, Jakarta.
Last season, Pelita Jaya frequently played at different venues. After starting the season at Hall Basket Senayan, the team played in several other locations, including the Sport Center in Kelapa Dua, Tangerang.
“Pelita Jaya now has a home court, with improvements made to GMSB. We’ve done some light renovations, adding air conditioning, increasing the seating capacity, and replacing the floor. Last year, we were teased as a nomadic team, but thankfully, that became a motivation for us to win the championship,” Aninditha said.
Pelita Jaya enters the 2025 season as the defending IBL champions, having won the final 2-1 against another Jakarta team, Satria Muda. In the 2024 BCL Asia, Pelita Jaya finished in fifth place. With their home court renovation and a strong roster, the team is ready to face the upcoming challenges and continue their success.
